On Wednesday night, six Year 6 boys took part in the Sunderland Schools' Futsal tournament at the Beacon of Light, organised by Durham FA.
Futsal is a modified game of football, usually played with five players on a smaller, indoor pitch. Our team was made up of the fantastic Harrison, Deacon, Cameron, Kameron, Charlie and Lewis.
In the group stage, we played teams from Hill View, St Mary's, Farringdon, Castletown and St Leonards. After five enthralling games, the boys finished second in the group and progressed to the semi-final. It was a close semi-final and the team showed great determination and desire which led them to victory and took them into the final.
After a tense five minutes against Hill View in the final, the boys were triumphant. They showed great skill and teamwork to beat a well organised team and win the tournament!
The boys will now go on to represent the school and Durham FA at a regional finals night next month.
Mr Guthrie and Mrs Roffe were proud of the outstanding teamwork, skill and sportsmanship that the boys showed.
